Basketball: Michigan State
Joint Basketball Watch Party with Michigan State
The Michigan basketball team has a match with their Michigan State rivals coming up on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 4:00 pm Pacific Time, and our local Big Ten brethren from that other state school have offered to join us at our regular Belltown haunt at Buckley’s and make a joint event of it.
The game starts at 4 our time, but even if you can’t make it for the start, get there as early as you can, and wear your maize and blue so we will be able to tell who’s who!
Thanks to the local Spartan alumni for suggesting this. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
See our Club Web Site for all the details.
Volunteers sought for East Side Football Watching Search Team
Our move to Buckley’s in Belltown for football watching in 2009 was a great hit with many of our members, but others expressed a desire for a second football watch party location on the other side of Lake Washington, and — at times — we frankly had more Wolverines show up than could be comfortably squeezed into the Buckley’s location, no matter how friendly we all got.
If we want to make this a reality for the 2010 football season, then now is probably the right time to start the search. As it happens, most of our current board members live on the Seattle side of the lake, and so we are looking for some volunteers from the East Side to organize and lead the search for a new venue in that area.
These are generally the key criteria we are looking at:
- Clean and friendly venue and staff
- Some sort of Big Ten connection would be nice, but is not required
- Kid-friendly
- Free parking nearby
- Serves a decent breakfast
- Willing to open early on Saturdays for those noon games back East
- Not already committed to another school for football Saturdays
- Decorated in Maize and Blue
(Just kidding about that last one.)
If you would be willing to lead the search for an East Side venue, or help out as part of the search party (or know of an East Side location that would be perfect), then please drop me a note. We’d like to get this kicked off as soon as possible.
Our Networking Event!
Thanks to everyone who participated in our recent “Networking in the New Year” event. It was a great success! Thanks especially to John Hayner and Maicie Jones for organizing the event.
