Come join us at this annual event, as we invite all incoming U of M first year students (and their parents) from the Puget Sound area, as well as current U of M students, for a meet-and-greet and picnic. Parents of current U-M students and alumni are also encouraged to attend. Alumni, especially recent grads, are always helpful to answer incoming first year students’ questions about campus life, classes and professors, and all the ins and outs of Ann Arbor.
Sub Sandwiches, drinks and cake provided.

Wine and Cheese Reception with Bruce Madej

Come enjoy wine and cheese with other Wolverines and spend some time with Bruce Madej, Associate Athletic Director/Director of Media Relations for the University of Michigan. Bruce has taken the time to visit with us the past two summers as well, and his personable insights into Michigan athletics, both past and future, have always been both entertaining and enlightening.
This is an event to benefit the Roby M Burley Scholarship Fund, come learn more about the fund and meet recipients of the award.
Annual Gathering

Even if you couldn’t make it, it’s not too late to get involved. Send us your event ideas and volunteer opportunities, or let us know if you’d like to become more actively involved in the community of more than 5,500 Michigan graduates in the Puget Sound area.

2008 Admitted Students Reception
Posted April 9th, 2008 by hbowieOur 5th annual pizza party for admitted Puget Sound area high school seniors was a great success.
All local students (and their parents) who had been admitted for the Fall semester were invited to attend.
Thanks to Michael Tarlowe for organizing and hosting the event, and to recent grads, parents of current students and other alumni who participated to share their experiences of the U of M.
The reception was held at Piecora’s Pizza in Capitol Hill.

Wolverines Take Sixth Place at NCAA Championships
Posted March 30th, 2008 by hbowieThe Wolverines compiled 271.5 points to finish in the top 10 for the eighth straight season.
Michigan senior Alex Vanderkaay won the 400-yard individual medley for the second time in two years Friday at the NCAA swimming and diving championships in Federal Way, Washington.
Vanderkaay, who won the event in 3:41.58, became the first Wolverine to win back-to-back NCAA titles since Peter Vanderkaay, Alex’s older brother, won the 500-yard freestyle in 2005-06.

As many of you know, I have taken on an incredible challenge. This September, I’ll be walking 60 miles over the course of three days, camping — yes, camping! — out at night with thousands of other women and men taking this journey with me.
Michigan Winged Helmet

Michigan’s famed winged helmet dates back to 1938, when Fritz Crisler arrived from Princeton University with his penchant for detail and style. “Michigan had a plain black helmet and we wanted to dress it up a little,” Fritz recalled. “We added some color (maize and blue) and used the same basic helmet I had designed at Princeton.”
